US made Lift recomendations

Warning: stop here if made in China is 100% out of question for you.

I have the Atlas Base Plate 10,000. Made in China. I bought it about 5 yrs ago from Greg Smith Auto.(gregsmithequipment .com). Even if you don't want to buy one, check out their website as they have a lot of good advice on lifts. The lift is the "Industrial" model and is well made and has a strong motor and pump. You can still get it for <$.00.

I am not able to post pics/links yet(new member restriction), but I have a 4 car pole barn style garage and got lucky that in one of the bays, the ceiling joists lined up with the door opening. The BP model height is about 2" under my ceiling joists. Worked out great. When lifted, the vehicle is centered between the joists.

I know people knock the BP models, but it really has only been just a slight inconvenience. The 3 times I have pulled transmissions, I took up the metal wedge shaped cover and laid some wood down to cover the cables/lines. To not go BP style, I would have had to modify trusses. I am weekend warrior only, so no need for all that action.

I'd say mine has been up/down between 500- times and no issues. I did find several anchors loosened up a bit in the first year, so watch that.
