● The installed capacity of new energy in the five provinces and regions reached 145 million kilowatts, accounting for 32% of the total installed capacity.
● By the end of this year, the installed capacity of new energy power generation in the five provinces and regions will rise to 168 million kilowatts, accounting for 37.3% of the total installed capacity.
According to statistics from China Southern Power Grid Corporation, as of now, the installed capacity of new energy in the five provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan has reached 145 million kilowatts, accounting for 32% of the total installed capacity, surpassing coal power for the first time and becoming the largest power source type.
Looking at provinces and regions, the installed capacity of new energy in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan is 50.16 million kilowatts, 29.32 million kilowatts, 38.6 million kilowatts, 20.52 million kilowatts, and 6.39 million kilowatts respectively, each accounting for 27% of the total installed capacity in the province (region). %, 44%, 31%, 32%, 44%. Among them, new energy sources in Guangxi and Hainan provinces (regions) have become the largest power sources.
From a time perspective, from 2021 to 2023, new energy accounted for 63% of the new power sources in the five provinces and regions, accounting for 10.71 million kilowatts, 8.44 million kilowatts, and 48.57 million kilowatts respectively. By the end of 2023, the total installed capacity of new energy in the five provinces and regions will exceed 132 million kilowatts, doubling compared with 2020.
Judging from the actual power generation, since this year, the maximum daily power generation of new energy in the five provinces and regions has hit a record high six times, reaching a maximum of 1.04 billion kilowatt hours, and the daily power generation penetration rate (the proportion of power generation in the total installed output) has reached a record high 31.12%.
"This is equivalent to about 1 kilowatt hour of electricity coming from new energy units for every 3 kilowatt hours of electricity used that day." Wang Haohuai, manager of the Hydropower and New Energy Department of China Southern Power Grid's Power Dispatch Control Center, said that so far, the new energy power generation in the five provinces and regions has reached 65.3 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 67%.
In the first quarter, new energy production in five provinces and regions was 12.54 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 72%. Wang Haohuai said that it is expected that by the end of 2024, the installed capacity of new energy power generation in the five provinces and regions will further increase to 168 million kilowatts, accounting for 37.3% of the total installed capacity.
