Esco style bucket teeth identification

Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 2012 Case Cx80 excavator with an Esco pingrabber quick release system. The machine came with a 24" bucket and the teeth are worn out and need to be replaced. The problem is I cannot seem to remove the teeth. The dealer has been absolutely no help in identifying the style of teeth. I have it narrowed down to the super V style or the VertiLok style. Both have side pins that I can drive out, just can't get the darn teeth off of the shafts. Tried heat, sledge hammer and pipe wrenches. It seems the super V slides on and off and the Vertilok has a 1/4 turn twist off and on. Either way, cannot seem to get these darn things off. Any suggestions other than buying a CAT would surely be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

Choosing The Right Excavator Bucket And Accessories

Finding the right excavator bucket for your work site will optimize your productivity.

Construction excavators and excavator buckets

No matter how big the construction projects you manage, you need the right tools to complete them on time. One of the most common machines used on the job site is the excavator. You can replace the bucket and bucket teeth just like the blades on a razor - new bucket and/or bucket teeth can bring new efficiency and productivity to your excavator.

Selecting the right excavator bucket for your job site

When choosing the right excavator bucket for the work site, you should always ask these two questions:

  • What specific application will you use the excavator for?
  • What type of material are you dealing with?

The answers to these questions will determine the type of excavator bucket you choose. Many people mistakenly choose heavy bucket construction. When choosing a bucket, you must keep the following points in mind:

  • Heavier excavator bucket will reduce excavator cycle time
  • If you don't want to affect productivity, experts recommend that you use small digging buckets for high-density materials.
  • Different bucket designs are used for different applications. Learn about the different types and choose the most appropriate one for your purposes.

A brief overview of the types of excavator buckets

It is important for you to understand the different types of buckets available on the market today. The following are some common excavator bucket categories in use today:

Digging buckets (also "general-purpose buckets")

The most versatile and common accessory that comes with an excavator. It has short, blunt teeth that remove dirt and other particles.

Grading buckets (also "ditching buckets")

Usually used for grading, charging, leveling, ditching and related activities.

Heavy-duty buckets

These are made of heavy steel and are used to excavate rock, stone, gravel, basalt and other abrasive materials.

Trenching buckets

These narrow buckets are mainly used for digging trenches and can help you dig deep trenches quickly.

Angle Tilt buckets

Although similar to graded buckets, they have the added feature of 45 degree rotation on both sides. You can use these buckets to create an accurate slope.

Specialty excavator buckets

Sometimes your application will require a dedicated bucket. Knowing these will help you make qualified decisions when choosing the right bucket for your needs:

Riddle bucket

Thick plates with gaps allow small particles to pass through and screen coarse particles

V-Bucket

Used for digging deep, long and V - shaped trenches

Rock Bucket

Universal bucket design with sharp V-shaped cutting edges for breaking through hard rock

Hard-Pan Bucket

Sharp teeth for loosening tight soil

Guide for choosing the right size of excavator bucket

Although you may be aware of the different types of buckets available to you, it is helpful to know the ideal size limits for buckets for different weights of excavators.

Selecting accessories for your excavator buckets

Below is a brief description of the accessories you can choose to customize these buckets. That way, you can take full advantage of them.

  • Adjust different types of teeth to suit your application; For your convenience, you can add chisel teeth, rock teeth, tiger teeth, etc.
  • Adjust the pitch of the gear so that the machine can penetrate rock and other hard materials; You can make the tooth space wider or narrower to penetrate rock or dig soil, respectively
  • Configure edges so that they are spade or straight; Shovel edges are suitable for hard materials and straight edges for soil and ditches
  • Additional side or root milling cutters can help you dig well when digging
  • Wear protective accessories to increase the service life and durability of excavator buckets
  • A coupler used to switch between tools and switches
  • The electric tilt coupler tilts the tool 180 or 90 degrees
  • Connect the thumb of the excavator to hold the material firmly in place

No matter what brand of excavator bucket and accessories you buy, always check the operating instructions to use the equipment correctly. If you are buying a used barrel, make sure it is in good condition. Look at the welds and make sure there are no fans.
